Gearbox Operators
The primary function of a gearbox operator is to provide linear / rotary motion conversion. AeroControlex offers a wide range of rack and pinion gearboxes for aircraft applications of varying criticality. Our gearboxes are either precision cast and/or machined to meet the demanding applications and environment found on today’s aircraft. AeroControlex also manufactures various hobbed wheel control boxes, which mate with our helical wound core sliding controls.
All gearbox operators are designed and manufactured to high performance specifications to complement the low friction and minimal backlash performance of the control cable. AeroControlex is highly capable and prepared to design custom gearbox operators to meet the system’s specific needs.
Characteristics
AeroControlex gearboxes are designed to suit individual applications and custom configurations. Generally used to translate linear motion to rotational motion of remotely mounted inputs. Our gearboxes are designed to seamlessly mate with our ball bearing or sliding control cable products. They are also designed as standalone LRU’s for ease of maintenance and removal.
AeroControlex gearbox products include spur gear rack and pinion, helical, elliptical, worm and many other highly specialized manufactured components with exceptional accuracy up to AGMA class 12. Utilizing gear software and stress analysis allows us to determine the correct gear train for each application.
